To start with - an ideal, a concept: consensus on designing sustainable business parks

What we are up against:

• difficulty in translating the concept into reality
• the diversity of the sites in question
• a lack of references

There is a need for measuring and evaluation tools.

Measure - plan - execute

Adopting a sustainable approach involves a commitment to continual improvement

The study can be done on two levels:

• On the level of the company, the plot of land (infrastructure, grounds)
• On the level of the whole business park (all plots of land and public areas)

What are the criteria for assessing a business park's sustainability?

At present, the number of criteria is limited to 6. This does not mean that no other ones exist, but that these 6 are deemed to be the most significant.

• materials
• mobility
• biodiversity
• energy
• water
• waste

As the system is built in a modular manner, it can be extended.

Importance is attached to:

• The clarity of the evaluation tools
• The possibility of applying the tools to all types of companies and business parks
• The freedom to choose a target level and to work at different levels (a single company, a group of companies, a business park)
